All the maps I got were from a lovely website: www.roberts-1.com/bikehudson/. Their road routes do not make use of the plentiful rail trails in the area, although there is information on the website about these trails.

Here's our version:

After crossing the Hudson and making your way over the first hill (crossing 9) you come down into a town called Highland. Take a right on Vineyard Ave, which is also rte 44. In Highland there is a rail trial that runs for about 2.4 miles. You pick it up just behind the town center. From Main Street (same as Vineyard Ave and rte 44) take a left onto Commercial Ave, which is an industrial and residential road that leads you around the backside of town. Just about 50 yards down the road it bears to the right and there is a driveway that continues straight up a short hill. Follow the drive, not the road, and after about 20 yards it intersects the rail trail. Turn right and follow the trail until it ends at Tony Williams Park on South River Road, and take a left. This leads to New Paltz Road, on which you turn right. After about a mile this crosses 299, but you have to jog to the left to get to the other side of New Paltz Road; this can take a while if there is traffic. New Paltz Road runs roughly parallel to to 299 for 2 miles, at which point it rejoins it just before crossing the Thruway. Go over the throughway and take your first right on Putt Corners Road (rte 17). then your first left on Henery Du Bois Drive. This will lead you almost all the way to the next bike path -- the Walkill River Rail Trail. When the road ends at N. Chestnut street (rte 208) take a right and then your next left on Mulberry Street, which crosses the trail. We took a right to go up to Rosendale and from there to High Falls.
